Whilst our most of our Melbourne members were tucked away nursing hangovers from the Preview Party Cruise the night before, the ESCFAN Committee held its first ever on-ground Committee work day, facilitated by a professional mediator.
The purpose of the day was to undertake some significant items of organisation for the club which could not be finalised through our regular monthly Skype meetings online due to the nature of impersonal communication electronically, as well as much needed bonding time for the 9 Committee members who are scattered far and wide across the country.
In attendance were Sharleen Wright (President), Alistair Craig (Secretary), John Tzimas (Treasurer), and ordinary members Troy Bass, Jordan Busic and Bente Tullberg. Kelly Coomber was also present via Skype from Queensland. Absent were Renee Pozzi (Vice President, due to personal circumstances) and Stephen Sykes (on 3 month requested Committee absence).
Discussions on the day included reaching a final ‘mission statement’ for the club, a re-jigging of tasks and expectations between sub-committees and finding a way forward in determining matters of a disciplinary nature.
These will soon be reflected on our website.
Other items that were marked and still require further development include a succinct re-writing of rules for social media (to be posted on the members-only Facebook group information section), and procedures and arrangements for elections. These tasks have now been assigned to the associated sub-committees within the club.
