OGAE Song Contest 2018

OGAE Song Contest is an auditory contest that gives a chance to songs that have not taken part in any national ESC pre-selection songs to participate in a contest. The songs must originate in countries with a national OGAE club. The main purpose of OGAE Song Contest is to promote national music and national singers. The songs must be original and sung in one of the official language of the countries they represent.

OGAE Australia won the contest last year, with the song "Fighting for Love" by Dami Im.  Listen to the winning song below.

Each OGAE club is required to compile a list of the entries for the OGAE Song Contest and voting is to conducted through each individual Club with the final results to be sent to OGAE Australia. A list is provided below of all the countries competing.

Kari Bremnes is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She got an M.A. in language, literature, history and theatre studies from the University of Oslo, and worked as a journalist for several years before deciding to dedicate herself to music full-time. In 1987 she received the Spellemann Award (Spellemannprisen) for the record Mitt ville hjerte, and in 1991 for the record Spor. With her two brothers, Lars Bremnes and Ola Bremnes, she received the prize for the record Soløye in 2001. She was also deputy board chairman of the Norwegian Society of Composers and Lyricists.

Her single ”Det e min sønn” (It’s my son), was released in 2017.



Mimi Doblas, is a star who rose to fame on the popular Spanish reality television show Operación Triunfo in 2017. Unfortunately she was the first contestant out. She is not new to televised competitions however, in 2010 she participated in ”Fama, ¡a bailar!”. She still has not forgotten this time in her life, and it has influenced her new project, Lola Indigo. This is a girl band created by herself. Fellow band mates are Mónica Peña, Saydi, Laura Ruiz and Claudia Riera. Most of then were also previous contestants in ”Fama, ¡a bailar!” Earlier she was working in China. She was inspired by the singers she worked with there, and decided that she wanted to be one of then one day. Mimi also gave dance classes in Los Angeles before deciding to go back to Spain to pursue her career. She says that her passion is dance. Therefore, every song that she writes is designed considering the movement, which goes along with it.

The single ”Ya no quiero ná” is the first song by Lola Indigo, and was released in 2018.



Lena Kovačević was born in Belgrade. In her hometown, she studied piano at Music High School. She graduated from the Music Conservatory in Amsterdam where she focused on jazz singing. She has performed in numerous competitions and festivals, including EXIT 2001. She collaborated with the Royal Dutch Orchestra, with whom she undertook a concert series in the Netherlands and Belgium, including an appearance in front of the Dutch queen. She performed as a soloist in a project of the American bassist Jhon Clayton. A Belgian producer Biskemijem recorded her performing Serbian traditional songs, Dense fog padnala me. In 2011, she was a judge for the music competition "First Voice of Serbia", which was broadcast on television First.

Her single ”Cafe” was released in 2017.



Charlotte is a young Belgian artist from a family of talented musicians. She firstly studied dancing before going to Paris to study at the “Cours Florent”. Once she’s got her degree, this young woman decides to challenge herself and realize her musical dream.

Her project, which is in French, has for objective to propose an intimate and unique universe. An universe that mixes image, dancing and comedy on an alternative pop music rhythm. As an author, composer and singer, Charlotte had worked with young talented producers such as R.O or Nicolas d’Avell, whose helped her defining her musical identity.

Her first title, “Pars” (“leave”), is intimate and mesmerizing, just like her musical universe composed of indie-pop music influences. In addition, it reminds me Lana Del Rey… Which is pretty flattering, no?

Charlotte has just signed with Sony Music Belgique, we bet that the flat country will hear from her soon!



Mirai is a Czech pop music band . It was founded in 2014 and comes from Frýdek-Místek. Mirai Navratil, frontman, singer and guitarist. Other members include drummer Šimon Bílý, Michal Stulík and Tomáš Javůrek. Shortly after the establishment of the band, is when guitarist Michal Stuhlík joined. In 2018, Tomáš Javůrek also joined the band. In 2017, Mirai won the title "Discover the Year" at the Czech Nightingale . The song "Když nemůžeš, tak přide" won the title of the most popular and best-selling song.  In October 2017, Mirai released its debut album Konnichiwa . The release of the album was delayed by one month due to the death of his Šimon’s wife.

The band’s single ”Chci tančit” was released in 2017.



Rasmus Seebach is a Danish singer-songwriter and record producer who had his debut with the Danish language single "Engel" (English: "Angel") in April 2009. Seebach has written and produced songs for Danish and international artists since the late 1990s. Together with his brother, Nicolai Seebach, he runs the production company Top Notch Music. Rasmus Seebach is a son of Tommy Seebach, about whom he has also written a song, namely "Den jeg er" (English: "Who I am"). In the song, Rasmus tells his father that they have forgiven him and are doing fine, despite the father's alcoholism and sudden death. His brother Nicolai Seebach is also a well-known musician, songwriter and producer who co-writes most of Rasmus' materials.

In 2017, he released his single titled ”2017”.



Lolita Markovna Milyavskaya is a Russian singer, actress, TV and film director of Ukrainian origin. She is better known under her stage name Lolita. She was born in Mukachevo, Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine. In 2017 Milyavskaya was forbidden to enter Ukraine for a term of three years because she performed in Crimea in 2015 (the Ukrainian territory Crimea was annexed by Russia in 2014). As an actress, she is known for Vechera na khutore bliz Dikanki (2001), Bezumnyy den ili zhenitba Figaro (2003) and Popsa (2005). She has been married to Dmitry Ivanov since 2011. She was previously married to Aleksandr Zarubin, Alexander Tsekalo, Vitaly Milyavsky and Aleksandr Belyayev.



Búhos  founded in 2005 in Calafell (Tarragona). They sing fundamentally in Catalan, but they also have a repertoire in Spanish.  They have released eight studio albums.  After two years of uninterrupted tour and diverse changes of formation, in 2007 the group published its first official disc, Rebellion in the place , of totally independent form and selling it in its concerts by a euro; They managed to sell more than ten thousand copies. The cover was designed by the cartoonist Carlos Azagra , from El Jueves .  The group was gaining popularity after a series of songs about Fútbol Club Barcelona for the radio stations Ona FM and RAC 1 .  In November of 2017 they finalized the album tour Lluna plena in the Sala Apolo of Barcelona, ​​with all tickets sold,  to enter again in the recording studio to record their next studio album, La gran vida.

On January 19, 2018 published the video and single Volcans Disk great life , which was published on February 15, 2018.



Formed in 2007, pop-rock band SkyNet are one of the promises of Belarusian music. While the quartet is working on their second studio album, which will be entitled "Dlya tebya", they have released the vigorous "Ty ne takaya", a powerful song that will blow your mind!



Salvador Vilar Braamcamp Sobral is a Portuguese singer, he was born in Lisbon and has lived there most of his life. He was born into a formerly noble family. At the age of ten, he participated in the TV programme Bravo Bravíssimo, and at 20 he was one of the ten finalists of Ídolos, the Portuguese version of the Idols franchise. He won the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 for Portugal with the song "Amar pelos dois", written and composed by his sister Luísa Sobral. In doing so, he gave Portugal its first ever win in the contest since its debut in 1964, ending the longest winless run by a country in Eurovision history (53 years). In May 2018 Sobral performed in the Grand Final of the 2018 Eurovision Song alongside Brazilian musician Caetano Veloso.

His single ”Mano a Mano” was released in 2018.



Troye Sivan, is an Australian singer, songwriter, actor, and YouTube personality. After gaining popularity as a singer on YouTube and in Australian talent competitions, Sivan signed with EMI Australia, a Universal Music Australia label, in 2013 and released his debut extended play, TRXYE (2014), which peaked at number 5 on the U.S. Billboard200. Its lead single, "Happy Little Pill", reached number 10 on Australian music charts. In 2015, he released his second extended play Wild followed by his debut studio album Blue Neighbourhood, whose lead single "Youth" became Sivan's first single to enter the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number 23.  Sivan has also earned two number-one singles on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.

On 10 January 2018, Sivan released the single "My My My!", along with an accompanying music video.

Steps are a British dance-pop group consisting of Lee Latchford-Evans, Claire Richards, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer and Ian "H" Watkins. Their music has a 1990s dance-pop sound. Their name was based on a marketing premise: that each of their music videos were to be choreographed, and the dance steps were included in the sleeve with most of their singles. Steps reformed in May 2011 for a four-part documentary series on Sky Living titled Steps: Reunion.

The group reformed for a second time on 1 January 2017 in celebration of their 20th anniversary, and later announced their fifth studio album Tears on the Dancefloor, which was released in April 2017.



Darina Yotova, better known by her stage name Dara, (stylized also as DARA) is a Bulgarian pop singer, who rose to fame in late 2015 after reaching the final in the Bulgarian edition of The X Factor. She is currently signed to Virginia Records and in 2016 she released her debut single "K'vo Ne Chu" under the label.  Following her departure from The X Factor, Darina signed a record deal with Bulgarian music label Virginia Records and adopted the stage name Dara. In the summer of 2016, she released her debut single "K'vo Ne Chu", accompanied by a music video. A few weeks later, the single peaked the Bulgarian charts and a subsequent English version of the song by the name of "Onto You" was released on September 29, directed towards an international audience.

On March 12, 2017, Dara released her second single entitled "Rodena Takava", also accompanied by a music video.  A few months later, on July 21, she made her first guest appearance on a single named "Nyama Da Si Tragnesh S Drug" by labelmates Plamen & Ivo alongside Bulgarian hip-hop duo Pavell and Venci Venc'. On September 29, Dara's third single "Nedei", with the official music video was released on YouTube.



Alina Wichmann is a German singer and songwriter. Her debut album “Die Einzige” was released in October 2017 and hit the top 100 of the German charts right away. The songs contained in the album are mostly autobiographical. Alina grew up in Schwarzwald in a musical family. At 14 years of age, she played in a school band. At 16, she participated in the first season on “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, where she placed in the top 30. She she was very young, she has been influenced by Mariah Carey as well as Alexandra, another German singer. Other musicians she mentions to have impacted her work are Zarah Leander, Hildegard Knef, Michael Jackson and Chris Isaak. Her songs are mostly written and composed by her, often in collaboration with her own band members, as well as other musicians.

In 2017, she released her new single “Nie vergessen”.



Antonia Gigovska is best known for songs such as “Slaba strana” and “Svetlina vo mrak”.
One of her earliest releases was the track “Nevreme”, which came out in July 2017. She represented FYR Macedonia at the eighth edition of the Europa Song Contest, held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the song "Vanilla" along with Pancho DNK.

Her single ”Svetlina vo mrak” was released in 2017.



Joanna Klepko, known by her stage name Cleo, is a Polish singer. She sang in gospel choir "Soul Connection". She is the winner of the first season of the Polish contest "Studio Garaż" in the category Rhythm and blues. On 25 February 2014, it was announced by TVP in the talk show Świat się kręci that Cleo together with Donatan, with their song "My Słowianie", will represent Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark. They finished 14th in the final. In 2015, she took part in fourth season of Taniec z Gwiazdami aired in Polsat, partnered with Jan Kliment. She was one of the favourites to win, but placed third out of eleven participants.

On 7 February 2018, she presented the video for the single "Łowcy gwiazd".



Franka Batelić , is a Croatian singer-songwriter. She rose to fame as the winner of the first season of Showtime.  She represented Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song "Crazy".  Batelić auditioned for the first series of Showtime in 2007, singing "Come saprei" by Giorgia for judges Jacques Houdek, Ivana Husar and Boris Banović.  Batelić won the competition on 22 December 2007 by receiving the highest amount of casted televotes in the finals.  As a prize, she signed a recording contract with the Hit Records record label.  Batelić's winner single "Ovaj dan" was released officially on 14 November 2007.

On 27 November 2017, Batelić confirmed via social media that she will release her comeback single "S tobom" on 4 December 2017. The song was first played on Nives Čanović's 385 Show on Narodni radio on 4 December with Batelić interviewed live. The accompanying music video for the song was directed by Sandra Mihaljević and Igor Ivanović and premiered on RTL Televizija's HR Top show on 10 December 2017.  It was announced on 13 February 2018 that Batelić would represent Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song "Crazy". She came in 17th in the first semi-final thus not qualifying for the grand finale.

Emma Muscat is a University student, singer and pianist. She has been playing the piano since she was a little girl, getting distinctions at every level. She has also performed at different venues and countries, from Rome to London, but she had not really gotten her big break until she made it onto Amici, Italy's most popular reality TV talent show. In Amici, a group of young artists live with each other inside a house under constant surveillance and compete against each other in singing, acting and dancing. Contestants are voted off the show one by one every week, until one final talented act is left standing.

Her single ”I Need Somebody”, was released in 2018.



Christophe Durier better known as Christophe Willem, is a French singer and the winner of the fourth edition of Nouvelle Star (French version of Pop Idol) in 2006. As a child, he learned figure skating and to play the piano. Later he learned to sing as part of a gospel choir "Young Voices". He also was composing songs at the age of fourteen. Pushed by his family and friends, he decided to try out for the 2006 edition of Nouvelle Star. Nicknamed "La Tortue" (The Turtle) by Nouvelle Star judge Marianne James, he proved to be a popular contestant, and on 8 June, was crowned the fourth Nouvelle Star. In 2018, he served as one of the domestic judges for Destination Eurovision, the French national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.

On 29 September 2017, he released the single “Rio”.


OGAE HUNGARY (Magyar Eurovíziós Fanklub)

József "Joci" Pápai is a Hungarian singer, voice actor, rapper and guitarist of Romani descent. Pápai came into contact with music early as his older brother had started writing songs and playing guitar at the age of four. He was influenced by music of the 1960s and 1970s, and rock, pop, soul, and R&B music. On 8 December 2016, it was announced that Pápai would be one of the thirty acts participating in the 2017 edition of A Dal, the national selection for Hungary in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the self-penned "Origo",in which he progressed to the final and won the competition, giving him the right to represent Hungary in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, coming in 8th place overall.

In 2017, he released his single "Özönvíz".



Eleni Foureira (Greek: Ελένη Φουρέιρα) is a Greek-Albanian recording artist, actress, dancer, and fashion designer. She began her music career in 2007 as a member of the Greek girl group Mystique, before pursuing a solo career after the group disbanded in 2009. Foureira was born in Fier, Albania. When she was young, the family left Albania and settled in Greece due to the civil war in the country. She grew up in the Kallithea neighbourhood of Athens. Foureira began pursuing music at a young age, learning how to play the guitar and later working in a theatre for three years. In February 2018, it was confirmed that Foureira would represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song "Fuego". In the final held on 12 May 2018, she finished as the runner-up. This marked Cyprus' best Eurovision placement in history.

Eveliina Tammenlaakso, better known as simply Evelina, is a Finnish singer and songwriter. She is signed to the Universal Music Group label M-Eazy Music. Evelina was born as Eveliina Tammenlaakso in Turku. She first began her music career in 2011 as a contestant on season one of The Voice of Finland, where she was a member of Elastinen's team. She was eliminated during the live shows. In 2015, she signed a record deal with the Universal Music Group label M-Eazy Music and released her debut double single "Rakkaudesta lajiin"/"Vuoristorataa" in May 2015. She released her breakthrough single later in the year called "Honey", featuring Finnish rapper Mikael Gabriel. The song became a hit in Finland, and reached number-one on the Finnish singles chart.

In 2017 she released her new single ”Tornado”.

Samir & Viktor or Samir och Viktor is a Swedish music duo that consists of Paradise Hotel contestant Samir Badran and fashion blogger Viktor Frisk. In May 2014 the duo released their first music single called "Success". The song peaked at number one in its first week on the Swedish iTunes chart and reached number three on Sverigetopplistan, the official Swedish Singles Chart. Samir & Viktor participated in Melodifestivalen 2015 with the song "Groupie", which finished eighth in the final, and again in Melodifestivalen 2016 with Bada Nakna which placed 12th overall. They competed a third time in Melodifestivalen 2018 with Shuffla, finishing in 4th place in the grand final.

Their single ”Put your hands up för Sverige” was released in 2018.



Aynur Aydın is a Turkish singer. She was born in Munich, when it was still West Germany, to Turkish parents. She started singing at the age of 10 and she gained her first experiences in the child and youth theatres. In order to improve her singing skills, she started to make stage shows at the age of 18. In 2000, she joined a band named Sürpriz and they recorded their first album in Istanbul. Her first album was recorded in the Cosmos Studio. In April 2016, her second studio album Emanet Beden was released and the songs "Günah Sevap" and "Bi Dakika" rose to number 3 on Turkish music charts.

In her 2017 single ”Bana Aşk Ver”, Aynur teams up with Turaç Berkay, who is a Turkish Music Producer, Composer and Dj from Istanbul.



Lea Sirk js a Slovenian pop singer. She started her musical education at the age of five in Koper, Slovenia. Between 2001 and 2007, Lea participated at numerous national and international competitions, where she regularly finished amongst the top positions. Lea finished her secondary school while studying the concert flute. Lea studied at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva and has played in various orchestras and participated in different seminars across Europe. During her studies, Lea Sirk also established herself as a singer. Lea, the mother of two girls, has been building her soloist singing career in parallel with her other responsibilities. She won at EMA 2018 where she became the Slovene representative at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with her song Hvala, ne!

In 2018, she released her single ”Moj profil”.



Kodaline are an Irish rock band. Originally known as 21 Demands, in 2012 the band adopted their current name. The group comprises Steve Garrigan, Mark Prendergast, Vincent May, and Jason Boland. Garrigan and Prendergast grew up in Swords, Dublin, and have known each other since childhood. Both attended secondary school at Colaiste Choilm, where they participated in battles of the bands. May joined the two in the group, followed by Boland in 2012. As 21 Demands, the band first came to attention in November 2006, when they participated in the fifth series of RTÉ talent show You're a Star; finishing as the series' runners-up. Kodaline have also been featured in different movies and shows. In 2013, the band won the Public Choice Award at the European Border Breakers Award.

In 2018, the band released their single ”Follow Your Fire”.



KAZKA is the music band, which plays the experimental pop with elements of electro-folk, and all songs are performed exclusively in Ukrainian. They are not afraid to be different, because they believe that each of us is beautiful due to its uniqueness. We only need to believe in ourselves and our strength and go to our goal. They know that miracles are happening. After all, KAZKA itself is a dream that has become a reality.
The band became famous thanks to the release of the song "Svyata" in early 2017, which became insanely popular among Ukrainian fans and became the debut super-hit of the indie-folk-pop group.
The duo transformed into a trio on the eve of the Ukrainian national selection for Eurovision-2018. Soon they participated in it with the song "Dyva", but they were not tired of getting to the finals.
On April 24, the release of the debut album "KARMA", the songs of which immediately became one of the most desirable on Ukrainian radio stations.  Especially to the taste of the audience came the song "Plakala" (Cried). This song has listened to more than 30 million times on YouTube without any video, which is phenomenal for the Ukrainian video segment.


Marco Mengoni is an Italian singer-songwriter. He rose to fame in 2009, after winning the third series of Italian talent show X Factor. He was born in Ronciglione, in the province of Viterbo, in central Italy, where he also spent his childhood. In 2013, Mengoni won the 63rd Sanremo Music Festival. He went on to compete in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest where he automatically qualified for the final, held in Malmö, Sweden, on 18 May 2013. Mengoni finished seventh in a field of 26. Giorgia Todrani, best known as Giorgia is an Italian singer, songwriter, musician, record producer and radio host. Known for her soulful voice, which is aided by a wide vocal range, high belting register and great vocal abilities. She is one of the most iconic and famous Italian singers. She has released ten studio albums, which all enjoyed good commercial success in Italy.

In 2017, the duet released their single ”Come neve”.


Michalis Hatzigiannis is a popular Greek Cypriot recording artist. From 2000 to 2009, Hatzigiannis has received over 30 certifications in Greece alone, making him one of the most successful artists of the decade. Hatzigiannis is also known for representing Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998. He performed the song "Γένεσις" (Genesis), a composition of his own and finished 11th.

In 2010, Hatzigiannis released his first English language album in Europe. In 2010, Forbeslisted Hatzigiannis as the 22nd most powerful and influential celebrity in Greece and fifth highest ranked singer.

His latest album is I Agapi Dinamoni (Love Gets Stronger) featuring 11 tracks including the no1 singles Se Ena Tiho and I Agapi Dinamoni and 3 more hit singles Mesa Sou Vriskome, Kati Dinato and Poios Ime Ego. The album was certified Platinum in Greece.
