We’re baaaaack!

For the fourth year in a row, Australia has been invited to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest.

ESCFAN – your Australian Eurovision Fanclub – are extremely happy to hear the news that once again Australia will be on the ground to participate at the Eurovision Song Contest.

May 2018 will see our fourth entry hit the stage in Lisbon, Portugal.  Members will once again have the chance to cheer on a homegrown artist, and the fanclub will be celebrating alongside our counterparts at SBS and Blink TV.

SBS Managing Director Michael Ebeid said: “SBS is proud to secure Australia’s return as competitors in the Eurovision Song Contest for the fourth year, as the country’s unique affection and passion for Eurovision continues to grow.

“In Guy, Dami and Isaiah, SBS has showcased the incredible talent of Australia’s musical performers on the world stage, and in turn, the wonderful diversity that makes up Australia today.

“It’s also great to be welcoming back hosts Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey after they perfectly captured the spirit of the contest in their debut this year. We’re looking forward to revealing more exciting news in the coming months.”

Asking our head of delegation Paul Clarke for his reaction, he advised ESCFAN:

“We’re so pleased to be invited back to Eurovision, and from what we’ve heard from Eurovision about Portugal’s approach this year, it will be a very exciting and innovative show, full of Portuguese joie de vivre and character. We can’t wait to see how many Aussies are in that wonderful Lisbon arena during Eurovision week in May.  We look forward to finding an artist who can hopefully capture Europe in 2018.”

Our song and entry will be announced in coming months.
