Junior Eurovision 2021 Review - Spain: Levi Díaz Reír

The Artist

Levi Díaz from Barcelona was internally selected to represent Spain this year.

He is 13 years old, and won The Voice Kids in 2021. He also competed on the show in 2019 but failed to make it past the blind auditions stage. Levi is also the first boy to represent Spain since 2005.

Levi loves to listen to Frank Sinatra and even though he just got into singing, he wants to be successful and to be known “…the forever smiling kid” at this year’s contest.

The Song

Reír is a very upbeat song about moving past hurt and celebrating the good stuff in life. The song is sung entirely in Spanish.

Reir was written by David Roma (Spanish guitarist and vocalist).

The song  is available on our YouTube and Spotify playlists.

Spain at JESC

This will be Spain’s 7th appearance at Junior Eurovision since their debut in 2003. Spain won the contest in 2004 with María Isabel with Antes muerta que sencilla. They took break between 2006 and 2019.

What a bop! Big tick from me Spain

I wouldn’t be surprised if this opens the show. It’d get the party started and the crowd up and dancing

Well this is a bit of banger isn't it!

Levi's vocals are amazing and his falsetto is just the cherry on top. The tempo changes are a really nice addition too. A really solid entry!

Exactly what I expected from Spain! Levi has heaps of charisma and holds a great tune. Even though this kinda sounds like a song by Sheppard (if they went to Spain), I really love it.

Kurtis: 9/10 ✭✭✭✭✭✭✭✭✭✩

I really enjoy this song. It is very well made! Making an impactful start with the minimal use of instruments and backing vocals. Throughout the song it feels like we are going on a journey. The instrumental is dynamic and upbeat, I can’t stop dancing along and shouting “hey!” I love Levi’s voice, his vibrato, his falsetto, his Spanish inflections and dynamism. Lyrically, I love the meaning of the lyrics about starting a revolution of love and freedom.
