Junior Eurovision 2021 Review -Bulgaria: Denislava and Martin Voice of Love

The Artist

Bulgaria is being represented by a duo this year: Denislava and Martin

Denislava is 12-years-old and Martin is 13. Both are from the town of Dobrich, which helped partially fund Bulgaria's participation in the contest this year. They have been a singing duo for the last four years.

Both are animal lovers, and have been singing since the age of 5. They've also entered many competitions together and won several awards.

The Song

Voice of Love is a mid tempo song that really highlights both their sweet voices. In a mix of Bulgarian and English, they sing about love being the greatest gift you can give someone and how you can carry away someone’s pain.

Voice of Love is written by Vasil Garvanliev (ESC 2020, 2021 and backing vocals in 2019, all for North Macedonia), Davor Jordanovski (Macedonian musician, currently in Canada),  Vesna Malinova (and yes, a Macdonian singer/songwriter) and Stan Stefanov.

The song is currently available on our YouTube and Spotify playlists.

Bulgaria at JESC

This will be Bulgaria’s 7th participation after the debut in 2007 and their first JESC since 2016. Bulgaria’s best result is a second placing in 2014 with Planet of the Children by Krisia, Hasan & Ibrahim.

What a beautiful song! Very middle of the road and not my cup of tea, but their harmonies are absolutely beautiful

Blake: 1/10 ✭✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩

This is so cheesy and not in a good way. The only good thing it is probably the vocals but aside from that it's extremely generic and boring. Sorry Bulgaria.

Danie: 6/10 ✭✭✭✭✭✭✩✩✩✩

OMG they are both so adorable! This song genre is usually not my speed but it is very well made and executed by two kids with great voices that blend very very well together. It definitely screams that Vasil was involved, and Victoria’s cameo in the official video was a nice link back to senior Eurovision. Very interested to see what staging could look like. Something whimsical would really lift this.

Bulgaria has returned and with a duo. Bulgaria sure loves their duos! Their song this year seems very middle of the road for me. It is nice and ethereal to listen to at the time, and there are some lovely harmonies between Denislava and Martin. Unfortunately, it is very simple and not memorable.

It’s a cute song and it’s like a Christmas carol! It’s boring though. It’s just like cute little instrumental with sparkle noises and light singing. It’s cute but, not my taste.
