Junior Eurovision 2021 Review - Serbia: Jovana and Dunja Children’s Eyes

The Artist

Serbia are being represented by a duo this year: Jovana and Dunja

Jovana is 10 years old while Dunja is 11 years old. Both are from a town in Northern Serbia, and have been performing from an early age.

Recently, Dunja won a music contest and a regional school contest, while Jovana has been entering different festivals.

The Song

Children’s Eyes is a pop ballad about hope and has a nostalgic feel. Children’s Eyes, also known as Oči Deteta, is completely in Serbian.

The song is written by Ana Frlin (Serbian pianist and singer).

You can find the song on our YouTube and Spotify playlists.

Serbia at JESC

Serbia will mark their 13th participation at Junior Eurovision this year. Since their debut in 2006, they have come third twice in 2007 and 2010: Nevena Božović (also ESC 2013 as part of Moje 3, and ESC 2019 as a soloist) with Piši mi, and Čarobna noć by Sonja Škoric.

OGAE Australia JESC Team scores and thoughts:

What a beautiful song! Yes it is not the strongest song Serbia have ever sent, but I still enjoy it. The girls’ voices work together absolutely beautifully, and this has so much potential staging wise

Blake: 1/10 ✭✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩

This is a mess, it sounds like it's trying to be an early 2000s R&B ballad but with a classical instrumental plus whatever else they wanted to throw in. The harmonies are pretty nice but apart from that I really don't know what to say. Sorry Serbia

Danie: 5/10 ✭✭✭✭✭✩✩✩✩✩

Oh this is early 2000s right? The spoken word, big drums, touch of violin, and some synth makes it totally oldschool but also very endearing. They have absolutely gorgeous voices and harmonies. Won’t be everyone’s cup of Milo, but it’s cute.

Kurtis: 2/10 ✭✭✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩

I enjoyed the harmonies and it seemed very sweet. But, it is not impactful, I dislike the dated instrumental, and I can’t understand the message of the song.

Raquel: 1/10 ✭✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩✩

This song was cheesy, no message, I dislike it. +1 Point for the dog in the background.
